Dante Among Theologians is led by the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture and the Devers Program in Dante Studies at the University of Notre Dame. It is conceived as a multi-year initiative dedicated to supporting scholarly publications, seminars, conferences, and related research activities.

The initiative is intended to grow into a broader framework supporting annual interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowships, team-taught undergraduate integration courses at Notre Dame and elsewhere, and programs for undergraduate and graduate students as well as the wider community.

It is structured as an initial three-year cycle (2025–2028), with the aim of bringing diverse approaches to Dante’s works into conversation in shared contexts—whether in conference panels, workshops, or larger meetings—to investigate the theology expressed in Dante’s work, its original contexts, and its subsequent reception over time.

Dante Among Theologians is an international research collaboration, operating under the aegis of the Notre Dame Global Catholic Research Initiative.
